Conheça a campanha
Vamos juntos nessa? Leia mais informações importantes abaixo!
AS RECOMPENSAS

QUEM É A CAROL?
ENTENDA A CAPTAÇÃO

Hi there! It's great to have you here!
The Women's Forum is one of the largest global forums on gender equality and women's leadership. Occupying political decision-making spaces is extremely important for the present and future of us all, especially young people. As a young Brazilian activist, being in a space like this can be exciting but challenging.
My name is Carolina Baruque (yes, it's a compound name!), and I've been a socio-environmental activist since I was 15. I focus on the issue of period poverty and have been taking effective actions at the state (in Minas Gerais), national, and even international levels!
Since 2022, I've been trying to make my Brazilian voice heard at the Women's Forum. This year, I created a fundraising campaign to gather the funds to travel to Paris, where the event will occur on October 23rd and 24th, 2024.
My goal is to raise R$9,000.00 to cover everything, from the flight (which, let's face it, has become increasingly expensive) to transportation within Paris.
I count on your help to make this dream a reality! Let's do this together! Read more important information below!
REWARDS

Each reward has been carefully thought out by me so that you, supporters of this journey, can connect with the trip, the cause, and the event.

WHO IS CAROL?
I'm from Minas Gerais, born in the city of Sete Lagoas. My first name, Carolina, means free woman, and I've been living my freedom by trying (and succeeding) to help other people have their freedom as well.
Since I was little, I've always wanted to change the world, to make it a better place. And it was in 2020 that I started my journey in activism. Even during the pandemic and lockdown, I managed to do many actions such as leadership workshops, fundraisers, lectures, interviews (mom, I'm on Globo!!), and I actively participated in the process of the state law of Minas Gerais on menstrual dignity and the national law on menstrual dignity as well.
The issue of period poverty resonated with me from the beginning because, even though I had many privileges, I suffered from the taboos of menstruation. I was always a playful child, I loved playing in the street with my neighbors and cousins, tagging, capturing the flag, and kites, I liked to play every game. But when I had my first period, I prayed that that blood was from a disease and not from menarche, because I wanted to keep playing, being a child.
I hid it from everyone for two years, only my mother and a few friends knew the truth. I wanted to escape the social pressure of becoming a "young lady" that would take away my freedom to be a child.
Today I see this reflected in so many other children who have recently started menstruating and even in adults who menstruate. The taboos of menstruation are enemies of freedom, and that's what I want to fight.
I want to take this very important issue to a global discussion stage, which is the Women's Forum. I want to show the power of Brazilian women to representatives of large multinationals and representatives of the G20 who will be present at the event. To show the strength of a free woman.
WHAT IS THE WOMEN'S FORUM?
Created in 2005 and held annually in Paris (with other secondary events in other countries), the Women's Forum is an international platform to amplify women's voices and perspectives for the creation of innovative economic and political initiatives.
It has initiatives to encourage women's leadership such as Rising Talents, CEO Champions, the Barometer, French Women Entrepreneurs 40, WomenEntrepreneurs4Good, and Youth Voices (which, incidentally, I am also competing to participate in, where I may have the opportunity to speak to representatives of the entire G20).
UNDERSTANDING THE FUNDRAISING
Unfortunately, since it's very last minute to buy tickets and accommodation, everything is a bit more expensive. That's why I need your help to fund this trip!
To make all this possible, we will need to raise at least R$9,000.00. It's a high amount to get in a short time, but I believe we can do it!
Here is a very simple graph of the percentage of travel costs.
