"Estou sonhado em construir um espaço onde posso estar com as mulheres dentro da floresta. O meu sonho é construir uma casa que não será só minha, mas que possamos receber as mulheres e homens do meu povo e de outros povos, vamos conversar, estudar a espiritualidade, fazer as dietas, trabalhar com a arte e com as medicinas yawanawá.
Lá vamos buscar um empoderamento da nossa própria força, do nosso espirito, de nós mesmos.
As mulheres yawanawá já sofreram muito, com o passado, e agora nesse novo momento elas estão se fortalecendo. A nossa Casa da Arte vai trazer a força das visões, da espiritualidade, fortalecer a força das mulheres dentro da aldeia. Esse movimento de entrar na arte e na espiritualidade está embelezando as mulheres tanto no espirito, como na mente, firmando e encorajando. Isso esta abrindo algo como um portal das forças delas. Então o mais lindo é que trazendo isso para as mulheres dentro da aldeia nós conseguimos nos fortalecer mais, na cultura, espiritualidade, na nossa vida.
Eu não posso sonhar um sonho pequeno só para mim, e nem mesmo só para as mulheres do meu povo, mas um sonho grande para que eu possa sonhar junto com todas as mulheres e homens, não só do meu povo, mas de vários lugares do mundo. Para que as pessoas que vem de fora possam viver isso também dentro da floresta e possamos sonhar juntos com uma aldeia e um mundo melhor para nós." (Hushahu Yawanawá)
I am dreaming, I want to build a space where I can be with women in the forest.
My dream is to build a house that will not only be mine, but that we can receive women and men from my people, and also foreigners, let's talk, study spirituality, diet, work with art and yawanawá medicines.
There we will seek an empowerment of our own strength, of our spirit, of ourselves.
Yawanawá women have suffered a lot from the past, and now it´s a new moment, they are strengthening.
Our House of Art will bring the strength of visions, of spirituality, amplify the strength of women within the village.
This movement of entering into art and spirituality is beautifying women both in spirit and in mind, steadying and encouraging. This is opening up something like a portal to their forces. So the most beautiful thing is that by bringing this to the women within the village we have been able to strengthen ourselves more in culture, spirituality, in our life. I can not dream a little dream for myself, and not only for the women of my people, but a great dream so that I can dream along with all the women and men, not only of my people, but of several places of the world. QUEM É HUSHAHU YAWANAWÁ? - WHO IS HUSHAHU YAWANAWÁ?
Hushahu Yawanawá é uma mulher indígena que em 2005, aos 25 anos de idade, decidiu romper um tabu na tradição de seu povo e protagonizou, junto com sua irmã, uma revolução das mulheres em sua aldeia, na cabeceira do Rio Gregório, no Acre. Até aquele momento nenhuma mulher havia feito a dieta de um ano de isolamento para formação xamânica e acesso aos saberes dos espíritos da floresta. Buscando diretamente os ensinamentos dos últimos pajés anciões da aldeia, Hushahu se tornou uma referência nos conhecimentos espirituais e artísticos Yawanawá, num momento em que seu povo passava por processos de enfraquecimento das práticas tradicionais, devido à forte influência missionária na terra indígena.
Ao voltar da dieta Hushahu trouxe grande vitalidade à cultura de seu povo, incentivando mulheres e homens a adentrarem nos estudos da espiritualidade, dos cantos, rezas e das artes. Ela passou a servir de referência para outras mulheres de dentro e de fora de sua aldeia, levando seu trabalho para diferentes regiões do mundo.
In 2005, at the head of the Gregorio River in Acre, Hushahu Yawanawá, an indigenous woman of 25 years old, decided to break a taboo in her tradition and starred, along with her sister, a women's revolution in their village. Up to that moment, no woman at the village had spent one year of isolation as a form of shamanic ritual initiation (diet) to access the forest´s spirits knowledge. Seeking directly the teachings of the village's past elders, Hushahu became a reference in Yawanawá spiritual and artistic knowledge, at a time when her people were undergoing processes of weakening traditional practices. These practices had to be weakened due to the strong missionary influence in the indigenous land and culture.
Upon returning from the Hushahu diet she brought great vitality to the culture of her people, encouraging women and men to study spirituality, songs, prayers and the arts. She became a reference for other women from within and outside her village, taking he work and message to other corners of the world.
O NASCIMENTO DO PROJETO - THE BIRTH OF THE PROJECT
As artes yawanawá estão diretamente ligadas à cosmologia do povo e aos saberes da espiritualidade. Durante sua dieta Hushahu conta que recebeu através do contato com os espíritos da floresta diferentes kene yawanawá, grafismos, que ensinou às outras mulheres de seu povo. Em sua imersão ela também adentrou no estudo da confecção dos rauty, ornamentos e artefatos rituais, feitos em penas, ossos e outros materiais, trazendo força e renovação às suas tradições.
Antes de Hushahu o uso das medicinas da floresta e o conhecimento das tradições espirituais Yawanawá eram restritos aos homens, hoje o estudo desses saberes em conjunto com as práticas artísticas é possibilitado a todo o povo e o movimento de empoderamento feminino vem crescendo com o trabalho de Hushahu e demais mulheres da aldeia.
O trabalho de Hushahu se torna ainda mais relevante para o povo com o recente falecimento dos dois grandes pajés, os anciãos Tatá e Yawarani, detentores dos saberes espirituais yawanawá em sua profundidade. Hushahu, que foi uma grande aluna do pajé Tatá, configura-se então numa das principais responsáveis de seu povo pela manutenção e continuidade dos saberes de cura do povo, buscando ensinar aos jovens aquilo que aprendeu com seu professor. No entanto, para dar continuidade a esse trabalho é necessário fortalecer a infra-estrutura do espaço. Como os estudos da espiritualidade Yawanawá estão diretamente relacionados às práticas artísticas, Hushahu idealizou a construção de um Centro de Artes e Espiritualidade, um espaço cultural para toda sua comunidade e aberto àqueles que queiram conhecer de perto os saberes yawanawá.
The Yawanawá arts are directly linked to the cosmology of the people and the knowledge of spirituality. During her diet, through contact with the forest spirits, Hushahu tells that she received different kinds of kene yawanawá and grafismos, and taught the other women of her village. In her immersion she also entered into the study of the making of rauty, ornaments and ritual artifacts, made of feathers, bones, and other materials, bringing back strength and renewal to their tradition.
Before Hushahu, the use of forest medicines and knowledge of the Yawanawá spiritual traditions were restricted to men, today the study of these knowledges in conjunction with artistic practices were made possible to all people, regardless of gender. As a result of Hushahu´s and other women´s work, the female empowerment movement has been growing. Hushahu's work has become even more relevant to their people after the recent passing of the two great shamans, the Tatá and Yawarani elders, holders of deep yawanawá spiritual knowledge. Hushahu, who was Tatá pajé great pupil, is one of the main figures responsible for the maintenance and continuity of the healing knowledge of her people. She seeks to teach young people and pass on the tradition and important healing spiritual teachings. However, in order to continue this work, it is necessary to strengthen the space´s infrastructure. The studies of Yawanawá spirituality are directly related to artistic practices, therefore Hushahu has envisioned the construction of a Center of Arts and Spirituality, a cultural space for her entire community and open to those who want to learn about Yawanawá knowledge.

A CASA DE ARTE YAWANAWÁ - THE YAWANAWA ART HOUSE
O objetivo do projeto é a construção de um Centro de Arte e Espiritualidade na Terra Indígena Yawanawá do Rio Gregório, Acre, sendo um espaço de valorização e incentivo às práticas e conhecimentos artísticos e espirituais do povo Yawanawá. Essa casa-ateliê será coordenada por Hushahu que realizará aulas e oficinas com mulheres e homens de sua comunidade. Além dos espaços comuns de convivência e criação, haverá espaços para hospedagem possibilitando a recepção de pessoas e grupos indígenas e não indígenas de outras regiões para vivências e estudos artísticos e espirituais. A construção desse espaço vai trazer sustentação estrutural para o trabalho espiritual, proporcionando com que diversas atividades de valorização cultural aconteçam, fortalecendo a comunidade, a espiritualidade e o processo de criação artística do povo Yawanawá. Apoiará ainda formas de sustentabilidade da comunidade por meio dos intercâmbios culturais constituindo um amplo espaço de estudos e aprofundamento espiritual onde as pessoas de outras regiões serão recebidas para inspirar-se na força das mulheres e homens yawanawá, aprendendo e trocando saberes.
The goal of the project is to construct a Yawanawá Art and Spirituality Center: a space for appreciation and encouragement to the arts, spiritual practices and knowledge of the Yawanawá people.
It will be a studio coordinated by Hushahu who will lead classes and workshops with women and men in his community.
In addition to the common spaces of coexistence and creation, there will be spaces for lodging fostering experiences and cultural exchanges among indigenous and non-indigenous groups from abroad and elsewhere.
The construction and the completion of this space will bring structural support to their spiritual work: It will allow for several different cultural strengthening activities. Those will nourish the community, not only spiritually but especially enhancing the process of artistic creation of the Yawanawá people.
It will also support forms of community sustainability through cultural exchange as it will provide a large space for study and spiritual deepening. This will be the space where people from other regions will be received to draw inspiration from the strength of yawanawá women and men as they all will exchange knowledge and learn from one another.
CONSTRUÇÃO SUSTENTÁVEL - SUSTAINABLE CONSTRUCTION
A construção da Casa de Arte Yawanawá será feita com base em um diálogo entre conhecimentos da arquitetura tradicional Yawanawá e da bioconstrução.
A casa será construída buscando a racionalização dos materiais, utilização de materiais locais e das proximidades. Os banheiros terão tratamento de águas através de fossa séptica e sistema de filtragem por zonas de raízes, utilizando plantas nativas.
O projeto conta com energia solar para alimentar o sistema elétrico da casa e a bomba de água do poço artesiano. A casa será projetada de maneira bioclimática, através de aberturas de ventilação zenital, ventilação cruzada e iluminação natural.
O projeto também prevê contrapartidas ambientais como, o plantio de árvores nativas, das espécies que serão retiradas da mata para a construção da casa, e a produção de uma área de plantio com as ervas medicinais yawanawá.
The construction of the Yawanawá Art House will be based with the exchange between the traditional Yawanawá architecture and bio-construction.
The house will take into consideration the rationalization of materials, using local and nearby materials. The bathrooms will have water treatment through a septic tank and a system of filtering by zones of roots, using native plants.
The project has solar energy to power the house's electrical system and the artesian well water pump. The house will be designed in a bioclimatic way, through zenith ventilation openings, cross ventilation and natural lighting.
The project will also provide for environmental counterparts such as planting native trees and species that will be removed from the forest with the construction´s purpose. Also there will be the production of a planting area for yawanawá medicinal herbs.
